Port > General

Use the FC_MR Port > General subtab to provision the port parameters.

Port

The card port number.

Port Name

Use an IP address or another name in the Port Name field. The preferred character limit for this field is 32; however, it is possible to exceed this limit when using long node names.

Admin State

The port administration state. Choosing an administrative state from the drop-down list and clicking Apply changes the port's service state unless network conditions prevent the change. Admin states include:

  • unlocked: Puts the port in service. The port service state changes to unlocked-enabled.

  • unlocked, automaticinservice: The entity is delayed before transitioning to the unlocked-enabled service state. The transition to unlocked-enabled state depends on correction of conditions, or on a soak timer. Alarm reporting is suppressed, but traffic is carried. Raised fault conditions, whether or not their alarms are reported, can be retrieved on the CTC Conditions tab or by using the TL1 RTRV-COND command.

  • locked, disabled: Removes the port from service and disables it. The port service state changes to locked-enabled,disabled.

  • locked, maintenance: Removes the port from service for maintenance. The port service state changes to locked-enabled,maintenance.

Service State

An autonomously generated state that gives the overall condition of the port. Service states appear in the format: Administrative_State-Operational_State, Status_Attribute. For additional state information, see States.

Link Rate

The actual rate of the port.

Max GBIC Rate

The maximum GBIC rate. If the GBIC does not have this information in the EEPROM, "Contact GBIC vendor" appears.

Media Type

Sets the proper payload value for the transparent GFP (GFP-T) frames. Possible values are Fibre Channel - 1 Gbps, Fibre Channel - 2 Gbps, FICON 1 Gbps, FICON 2 Gbps, and Unknown.

Link Recovery

Enables or disables link recovery if a local port is inoperable. If enabled, a link reset occurs when there is a loss of transport from a cross-connect switch, protection switch, or an upgrade.

AINS Soak

Automatic in-service soak. The amount of time left before the traffic/termination transitions to unlocked state.

Apply

Applies changes made to the fields in the tab.

Reset

Cancels any changes to the tab and returns the fields to their last-saved settings.

Displays context-sensitive help.
