Line
Use the Line subtab to provision the line parameters for the ONS 15454 DS1-14, DS1N-14, and DS1/E1-56 cards.
Sets the port administration state. Choosing an administrative state from the drop-down list and clicking Apply changes the port's service state unless network conditions prevent the change. Admin states include:
IS-Puts the port in-service. The port service state changes to In-Service and Normal (IS-NR).
OOS,DSBLD-Removes the port from service and disables it. The port service state changes to Out-of-Service and Management, Disabled (OOS-MA,DSBLD).
OOS,MT-Removes the port from service for maintenance. The port service state changes to Out-of-Service and Management, Maintenance (OOS-MA,MT). For loopbacks, the OOS,MT admin state must be initiated.
IS,AINS-Puts the port in automatic in-service. The port service state changes to Out-of-Service and Autonomous, Automatic In-Service (OOS-AU,AINS).
Shows the autonomously generated state that gives the overall condition of the port. Service states appear in the format: Primary State-Primary State Qualifier, Secondary State. For additional state information, see States.
Defines the line framing type:
ESF: (Extended Super Frame) A multiframe consisting of 24 frames.
E1_MF: (DS1/E1-56 E1 mode only) A multiframe consisting of 2 frames, also called European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) basic frame.
E1_CRCMF: (DS1/E1-56 E1 mode only) A multiframe consisting of 16 frames that performs cyclic redundancy checking (CRC).
J_ESF: (DS1/E1-56 D1 only) (Japan ESF) A J1 byte Extended Super Frame. In J_ESF, CRC is calculated differently than in standard ESF.
Autoframe: (DS1/E1-56 only) An automatically detected frame format.
Note: If the framing format cannot be detected when in Autoframe mode, it is set to Unframed.
(Does not apply to E1 mode) Defines the distance (in feet) from the backplane connection to the next termination point.
Sets the automatic in-service soak timer, which is the amount of time left before the traffic/termination transitions to the IS-NR state.
(DS1/E1-56 DS1 mode only) Sets the mode for far-end loopbacks and far-end performance monitoring: T1.403 or bidirectional fiber data link (BFDL).
(DS1/E1-56 DS1 mode only) Sends a Virtual Tributary Alarm Indication Signal (AIS-V) instead of DS1 AIS (from line side towards backplane/system side) when a line side trigger occurs. For example, when using the roll feature and the termination card is a DS-1, a roll will occur even if a valid signal is not detected on Roll To port. Check this box to properly generate payload defect indication path (PDI-P) downstream for the loss of signal (LOS) and loss of frame (LOF) AIS line defects.
When checked, a flag is sent indicating that the DS1 card should set the AIS to backplane when an LOF is recieved from the line-side.
(DS1/E1-56 card only) If checked, the port is provisioned as a network element (NE) timing reference.
(DS1/E1-56 card only) Enables a bit-oriented message (BOM) for DS1 ESF framing mode or for E1_CRCMF multiframe.
(DS1/E1-56 card only) When checked, sends a DUS (do not use) message on the S1 byte.
(DS1/E1-56 card only) When checked, retimes the transmit clock to the clock reference of the NE, removing the asynchronous relationship between electrical line and SONET transport time domains for the electrical path.
When not checked, leaves the port as "through-timed," which means that the transmit clock is extracted from the DS1/E1 data from the SONET payload coming from the backplane.
(DS1/E1-56 DS1 mode only) Sets the mapping mode:
Asynchronous: DS1 transport over SONET will use asynchronous mapping into VT1.5 (within VT-structured STS-1 synchronous payload envelope [SPE]).
Byte Synchronous: DS1 transport over SONET will use byte-synchronous mapping into VT1.5 (within VT-structured STS-1 SPE).
Japan Byte Synchronous: E1 transport over SONET will use asynchronous mapping into VT2 (within VT-structured STS-1 SPE). DS1 transport over SDH will use byte-synchronous mapping into TU11 (within TU11 structured AU3 SPE).
(DS1/E1-56 card only) When SyncMsgIn is unchecked, overrides the synchronization status message (SSM) sent regardless of whether SSM is received from the line. The options are:
(DS1/E1-56 E1 mode only) Identifies the spare (SA) bit (4 to 8, None) used to receive and transmit the SSM.
