POS Ports/RPR Span
(ONS 15454 only) Use the ONS 15454 ML1000-2, ML100T-12, and ML100X-8 POS Ports subtab to provision POS ports. (Only the Port Name field can be provisioned from CTC. The Cisco IOS CLI must be used to configure the other POS Ports fields.)
If the 802.17 framing type is selected, the POS Ports subtab changes to the RPR Span subtab. Use the RPR Span subtab to view the status of the East and West spans. Only the Span Name column can be edited from this tab.
POS Ports Screen Description
Port
Displays the port identifier number.
Port Name
Displays the port name. This is the only field that you can provision for the ML-Series card from CTC.
Admin State
Displays the configured administrative port state, which is active or inactive. Possible values are UP and DOWN.
Link State
Displays the physical port state. Possible values are UP and DOWN.
MTU
Displays the maximum transfer unit, which is the largest acceptable packet size configured for that port. The maximum setting is 9000 and the default size is 1500. The MTU value is 0 until the POS port is used in creating a circuit.
Framing Type
Shows the encapsulation type set on the Card subtab:
HDLC-High-level data link control; does not support VLAN trunking,
which is standard on most Cisco data devices.
GFP-F-Frame-mapped generic framing procedure; a protocol data unit
(PDU)-oriented adaptation mode that maps a client frame into one GFP
frame.
Apply
Applies changes made to the port name.
Reset
Cancels any changes to the port name and returns the field to its last-saved settings.

RPR Span Description (ONS 15454 only)
Interface
Displays the RPR interface.
Span Name
Displays the span name. You can also use this field to enter a span name.
Span
Displays either West or East.
Admin State
Displays the configured administrative span state, which is active or inactive. Possible values are UP and DOWN.
Edge
Displays whether or not a span has a neighboring active node or active connection. Possible values are Yes or No.
Jumbo
If the span supports jumbo frames then the MTU is 9100 bytes otherwise the MTU is 1500 bytes. In RPR mode, the user can only select normal or jumbo sized packets. If all RPR nodes on the ring are configured to support jumbo frames then jumbo is supported. If any of the nodes do not support jumbo frames, then none of the nodes on the ring can support jumbo frames.
