History

The History tab displays historical alarm data for the Cisco ONS network, node, or card. It also displays conditions, which are not-alarmed activities such as timing changes and threshold crossings. For example, protection-switching events or performance-monitoring threshold crossings appear here. The node can store up to 640 critical alarm messages, 640 major alarm messages, 640 minor alarm messages, and 640 condition messages. When any of these limits is reached, the node discards the oldest events in that category.

Tip: Double-click an alarm to display the node or card where the alarm occurred. For example, double-clicking a node alarm takes you to node view; double-clicking a card alarm takes you to card view.

Session subtab

(Node view [single-shelf mode], shelf view [multishelf mode], or card view only.) Displays alarms and conditions that occurred during the current session.

Shelf subtab

(Node view [single-shelf mode] only.) Displays alarms and conditions that occurred for the node.

Node subtab

(Shelf view [multishelf mode] only.) Displays alarms and conditions that occurred for the node.

Card subtab

(Card view only.) Displays alarms and conditions that occurred for the card.

Date

Displays the date and time of the alarm or condition.

Node

Displays the TL1 access identifier (AID) for the alarmed object. For an STSMON or VT-MON alarms, the object.

Eqpt Type

Shelf

(Network view only) Shows where a multishelf alarm or condition occurred.

Slot

(Slot does not appear on all cards.) If the alarm is raised on a card, displays the slot where the alarm or condition occurred.

Port

If the alarm is raised on a card, displays the port where the alarm or condition was raised. For STSTerm and VTTerm, the port refers to the upstream card with which it is partnered.

Path Width

The column is populated if a path-level alarm occurs. For example, if the path alarm UNEQ-P is reported against an STS-3c, it will say "3."

Sev

Displays the alarm or condition severity level: CR (Critical), MJ (Major), MN (Minor), NA (Not Alarmed), or NR (Not Reported).

On the Node or Card subtab, you can check the Alarms and/or Events check boxes to display only alarms, only events, or both.

Filter

Displays the History Filter dialog box that allows you to filter the display of alarms and conditions.

Turns the filter on or off. CTC retains that last filter activation setting. For example, if you turn the filter on and then log out, CTC keeps the filter active the next time you log in.

Alarms

(Node view [single-shelf mode], shelf view [multishelf mode], or card view only.) If checked, displays node or card alarms.

Events

(Node view [single-shelf mode], shelf view [multishelf mode], or card view only.) If checked, displays node or card events.

Help

Displays CTC context-sensitive help.
