Alarm Behavior (Node/Shelf View)

Use the Alarm Profiles subtab on the node view (single-shelf mode) or shelf view (multishelf mode) and change alarm profiles assigned to the node. The ONS node is shipped with two reserved profiles: Default (all alarms meet Telcordia GR-253-CORE severities) and Inherited (all alarms behave according to the parent alarm profile: port > card > node).

Location

Displays the ONS node card slot; only the slots that have a card installed or that have been preprovisioned for a card appear in the Location column.

Eqpt Type

Displays the card type installed in the slot or the card type preprovisioned for the slot.

Profile

Sets the alarm profile for the slot. The default is the profile shipped with the ONS node and has the Telcordia GR-253-CORE severities. "Inherited from Node profile" means the slot uses the alarm severities assigned to the node in the Node Profile field. If custom profiles are loaded, they can be assigned at the slot level. An Inherited profile uses the values from the profile one level up:

  • A profile applied to a port uses the card profile.

  • A profile applied to a card uses the node profile.

  • A profile applied to a node uses the Default profile.

Suppress Alarms (column)

When checked, suppresses all alarms that occur at the slot.

Node Profile

Sets the alarm profile to be used at the node: Default (Telcordia GR-253-CORE severities delivered with the ONS node) or any custom profiles that have been created and loaded to the node.

Suppress Alarms

When checked, suppresses all alarms that occur at the node.

Apply

Applies changes to the Alarm Behavior subtab.

Reset

Cancels Alarm Behavior subtab changes and returns the fields to their last-saved settings.
