Operational States

The operational state indicates the current operational state of the interface as described in Table 12-2.

Operational State

Description

Up

Interface is transmitting or receiving traffic as desired. To be in this state, an interface must be administratively up, the interface link layer state must be up, and the interface initialization must be completed.

Down

Interface cannot transmit or receive (data) traffic.

Trunking

Interface is operational in TE or TF mode.
