Modify Storage Type

Use this screen to configure the redundancy level of each tier of storage within this storage type.

Select OK or Continue to proceed with tier redundancy modification.

If your user volume defaults allow, you can also add or remove specific classes of storage on this screen.

Select a storage class and press the Remove Selected Class button to remove it. Removing a class of storage that is currently in use is not permitted.

Press the Add Class button to add an additional class of storage. If all allowed classes of storage have been created, the Add Class button will not appear. By default, all allowed combinations of RAID type and Track are created when the disk folder is prepared for storage.

What You Need to Know

Modifying Tier Redundancy requires a RAID Rebalance to be completed, and should not be performed unless sufficient free disk space is available within the disk folder.

Storage Tiers are automatically ranked by disk performance. Tier 1 is fastest, Tier 3 the slowest.

Only Standard Track selections can be used unless the FastTrack feature is enabled.

Removal of storage classes is not allowed unless the "Allow removal of storage classes" user default is selected. To change the "Allow removal of storage classes" default option, use the Storage Management -> Volume -> Configure My Volume Defaults wizard. Changes to this setting will not be reflected in the Configure Storage wizard until it is closed and reopened.

If your tiers contain enough 2.5 TB or larger disks for RAID 6, they will default to dual-redundant storage and you will be unable to change that setting.
