Replicate to Simulation

Creating a simulated replication allows you to simulate replication link utilization before creating a true replication. Use the Progress Reports on the Enterprise Manager Replication Viewer QoS Definitions tab to track simulated link utilization over time.

  1. Select either Synchronous or Asynchronous mode. For more information, refer to: Options
  2. Select a Quality of Service (QoS) definition, or create a new definition.
  3. Replicate Active Replay for Asynchronous Replication replicates data not captured in a replay. This causes additional link overhead when the same data is written several times before being captured in a replay.
  4. Skip Initial Synchronization for Asynchronous Replication allows you to simulate replication for only current writes to a volume, and not include the cost to initially move the data to the replication destination.
  5. Deduplication for Asychronous Replications determines the changed data within a Replay and replicates only that changed data over the link. This option can be computationally intensive when used on systems having large numbers of replications with many replays.
