Advanced Mapping Options

This screen displays the advanced options available when mapping the selected external device to the selected server.

The advanced options available will differ depending upon the configuration of the server and the configuration of the Storage Center.

Select LUN

Map using LUN 0 - If you would like to map the selected external device using LUN 0, select this check box. This options is usually reserved for boot volumes. If a volume has already been mapped to the selected server using LUN 0, this option will not appear.

Use Specified LUN - If you would like to map the selected external device to the server using a specific LUN, select this checkbox and enter the desired LUN value. By default, Storage Center will use a different LUN if the specified LUN is already in use. If you do not want to use a different LUN when the specified LUN is already in use, unselect the Use Next Available LUN checkbox.

Restrict Mapping Paths

These options will only appear when mapping to a server with multiple server HBA ports, when mapping a server on a cluster Storage Center, or when mapping a virtual server to an external device.

Select Transport - If the server has been defined with server HBA ports of different transport types (for instance Fibre Channel and iSCSI), you can choose to map using only one of the transport types.

Select Server Ports - If the server has been defined with multiple server HBA ports, you can choose to map using a select set of these server ports by selecting the Specify Server Ports checkbox and then selecting the ports to be used.

Select Controller - If this is a clustered Storage Center configuration, you can choose to map to a specific controller by selecting the Map to Controller checkbox and then selecting the controller through which you would like to map.

Select Host, Virtual, or Both - If the server is a Virtual Server, you can select to map using ports from the virtual server, ports from the host server, or both.

Configure Multipathing

If the server's operating system does not support multipathing, these options will not be shown.

Maximum Paths - Select the maximum number of paths used to map the selected external device to the selected server. The maximum number of paths allowed may be limited by the operating system of the server.

Configure Volume Use

Read-Only - If you would like to map the selected external device to the selected server as a read-only device, select this checkbox.

Down Server Ports

Create Maps to Down Server Ports - If you would like maps to be created to down server ports, select this checkbox. This option will only be shown if the server has server ports which are down.
