Configure SNMP Server

Configures the SNMP Agent on the Storage Center.

Read Only Community String. Enter the password that the Network Management System uses for read-only access to the SNMP Agent.

Read Write Community String. Enter the password that the Network Management System uses for read and write access to the SNMP Agent.

Agent Status. Click Start Agent to start the agent. The agent must be running for external SNMP-enabled devices to communicate with the Storage Center using SNMP protocol. To stop the agent, click Stop Agent.

Trap Community String. Enter the password that the SNMP Agent uses with when sending trap messages to the Network Management System.

Trap Destination. Enter the IP address of the Network Management System that is collecting trap information.

Send Test Trap. Click on this to send a test-trap to the specified trap destination address - typically your Network Management System. When you verifiy that the NMS has received the test-trap, you will have verified the trap configuration parameters.

Trap Port. Enter the port number that the Network Management System is using to receive trap messages. The default trap port is 162.

Trap Type. Select the trap type from the pull-down menu. This specifies the data format of the trap messages that the SNMP Agent will send to the Network Management System.

Trap Status. Click Start Trap to allow trap messages to be sent to the Network Management System when necessary. To stop trap messages from being sent, click Stop Trap.

Enable Deprecated Traps. (Optional) Select to cause the Storage Center SNMP Agent to send deprecated traps (organized by severity) in addition to the more recently defined traps (organized by function). Usually left blank (the default).

Click Ok to save the settings, Cancel to exit without saving.
