System defaults allow you to control how the system asks for information. You can control the value displayed by altering the default value. To omit a question from being asked, uncheck Allow Changes. For example, if you wish to use only a single disk folder for all storage, uncheck Allow Changes on the Disk Folder field. If Allow Changes is checked, the system asks the user for a value. The default value appears in the field, which can then be changed.

Dynamic volumes share storage space in a pool. The Allocated Space Threshold determines when space is drawn from the specified disk folder and added to the pool. For example, a value of 25% space free means the system will try to maintain at least 25% free space in the pool at all times by adding space from the disk folder when the 25% threshold is crossed. If there is not enough available space in the disk folder to maintain 25% free space, the system will generate an alarm stating it can no longer maintain the desired storage reserve and continued storage allocations are in jeopardy.
The Emergency Threshold occurs when the reserve space is consumed. At this point, the system will use replay space to continue operations by expiring and consuming replay space.
If either the Allocated Space or Emergency Threshold occurs, you must add disks to the disk folder to resolve the alert.
