This screen displays the current status of the update process. It also provides links to all the operations needed to check for, download, verify, and install updates for the Compellent Storage Center. The links provided will differ depending upon the status of the update process.
Current Update Status - The current status of the update process. Each status value is described in further detail below.
Current Package Version - This is the version that is currently running on the Compellent Storage Center.
New Package Version - This is the version of the new update package that is ready for either download or installation.
Service Affecting - This indicates whether or not installation of the update package will require the system to shutdown and restart, thus halting all server IO and disconnecting all servers connected to the Storage Center. Installation of service affecting updates will also cause the Storage Center System Manager to close when connectivity to the Storage Center is lost.
Last Check Time - This indicates the last time the Compellent Storage Center successfully checked for updates.
Validation Errors - Appears when the component validation process has found errors or warnings that may restrict the installation of an update. Select Validate Components to revalidate the components and view the current validation errors and warnings.
Installation Errors - Appears when errors or warnings occurred during the installation of an update. Select Installation Report to view the errors or warnings from the last update installation.
Controller Reset - This is displayed while an installation process is running and indicates whether or not controller resets are required. Controller resets on clustered controller systems may not be service affecting.
No Updates Available - There is no update process currently in progress. Select Check Now to check for updates.
Checking for Update - The Compellent Storage Center is currently checking to see if any updates are available.
Error Checking or Downloading - An error has occurred either while checking for available updates or while attempting to download an update.
Update Available for Download - An update is available to be downloaded. Select Download Now to download the update.
Downloading Update - The Compellent Storage Center is in the process of downloading an update.
Update Ready to Install - An update has been downloaded and is ready for installation. Select Install Update to proceed with update installation.
Installing Update - The Compellent Storage Center is in the process of installing an update.
Error Installing Update - An error was encountered while attempting to install an update. Select Install Report to view more detailed information about the installation.
Validating Components - The Compellent Storage Center is in the process of verifying that all system components are in the appropriate state for an update to be installed.
Controller Down - A controller is down. Installation of updates is not allowed while a controller is down.
No - The update can be applied without a service affecting outage. The update may require non-service affecting controller resets.
Yes - Installing the update will require a service affecting outage. Service between the Compellent Storage Center and all attached servers will be lost during the install.
Deferrable - A complete installation of the update requires a service affecting outage. A non-service affecting partial installation can be performed on the required components deferring the service affecting components to a later date.
Check Now - Checks for new updates.
Download Now - Starts the download of available updates. This option will only appear when there are updates available.
Validate Components - Validates all system components to ensure they are in a state that will allow updates to be installed.
Install Update - Starts the installation of downloaded updates. This option will only appear when updates have been downloaded and are ready to be installed.
Details - Displays details about the update package, including a list of components to be updated. This option will only appear when updates have been downloaded and are ready to be installed.
Installation Report - Displays any errors or warnings that occurred during the previous update installation. This option will only appear if the previous update installation generated errors or warnings.
