Enclosure Connectivity View

The Enclosure Connectivity view displays information about how enclosures are connected to the Storage Center.

Loop List: Shown in the left frame of the Enclosure Connectivity view, the Loop List displays the list of enclosure loops or chains detected by the Storage Center.

Information Pane: Shown in the right frame of the Enclosure Connectivity view, the Information Pane displays information about the currently selected loop or chain. To view information about all of the loops/chains detected, selected the Back-End root node of the Loop List.

Viewing All Enclosure Loops and Chains

When the Back-End root of the Loop List is selcted, the Enclosure Connectivity view displays information about all loops or chains detected by the Storage Center.

For each back-end loop or chain, the Enclosure Connectivity view displays the following information.

• Name: The System Manager assigned name for the loop or chain.
• Controller: The first controller for the loop or chain.
• Port: The port on the first controller used for the loop or chain.
• Controller: The second controller for the loop or chain.
• Port: The port on the second controller user for the loop or chain.
• Crossed: Indicates whether the loop is crossed

Select the Topology tab to view a graphical representation of all loops or chains on the Storage Center.

Viewing Individual Enclosure Loops and Chains

When a loop or chain is selected in the Loop List, the Enclosure Connectivity view displays the following information about the selected loop or chain.

• Controller: The first controller for the loop or chain.
• Local Port: The port on the first controller used for the loop or chain.
• Port Count: Port Count for the first controller for the loop or chain.
• Start Map: Map for the first controller for the loop or chain.
• Controller: The second controller for the loop or chain.
• Local Port: The port on the second controller user for the loop or chain.
• Port Count: Port Count for the second controller for the loop or chain.
• End Map: Map for the second controller for the loop or chain.
• Loop Crossed: Indicates whether the loop is crossed.
• Enclosure List: Additional information about the enclosures in the loop or chain.
• Disk List: Additional information about the enclosure disks seen by the loop or chain.

Select the Topology tab to view a graphical representation of the selected loop or chain.

About the Compellent System Manager

Many views and wizards in the Compellent System Manager share the following common items.

Storage Management menu: This menu provides access to most Storage Center commands.

View menu: This menu allows you to open different views within the System Manager.

Refresh button: Selecting the Refresh button refreshes the data displayed in all views currently open in the System Manager.

Help menu: This menu provides links to additional information about the Storage Center.

System Time: Indicates the current time on the Storage Center. Clicking on the System Time opens the Time Settings wizard, allowing you to change the time settings for the Storage Center.

Log Off button: Selecting the Log Off button logs you out of the Compellent System Manager.

System Status: The System Status indicator represents the current status of the Storage Center. The indicator will be green, yellow, or red depending upon the severity of alerts currently present on the Storage Center. Select the System Status button to view additional status information in the Alert Monitor view.

Shortcut menu: The shortcut menu bar at the top of the System Manager will be altered based upon the currently selected item. The options presented are specific to the selected item. In many views, these options can also be accessed by right-clicking on the item.

Advisor Pages: Most windows include advisor pages with additional information about the commands and data displayed in the window. To open an advisor page, select the Advisor button.
