The Digital Network Interface Software Reference
provides reference information on the Digital Telephony
Interface (DTI) library, which can be used to develop
applications requiring the ability to manage digital
network interface (E1 or T1) connections to the Public
Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). Management operations
include alarm handling, diagnostics, resource management,
time slot audio and signaling, CAS DTI signal pattern
transmission and detection, and SCbus routing.
Note: The DTI library is an older,
lower-level library that has largely been subsumed into
the Global Call API library. Although the DTI library
continues to be supported, it is documented primarily
for purposes of backwards compatibility. New applications
should generally be developed with the comprehensive
Global Call API library, which is now the preferred
library for managing E1 and T1 telephony signaling.
