                 Online ROM Flash Component for Windows

1.  INTRODUCTION

    The Online ROM Flash Component for Windows provides the ability to
    update the system BIOS ROM while running Microsoft Windows Server 2003
    and Windows Server 2008.  This capability allows the system ROM to
    be updated quickly and seamlessly, with little or no user interaction.
    This component also provides the ability to perform remote ROM updates
    when used in conjunction with the Remote Deployment Console Utility.

2.  USAGE INSTRUCTIONS (INTERACTIVE)

    This procedure describes the steps necessary to update the system
    ROM interactively.

     1. Run the CPQSETUP.EXE installation program.

     2. The date of the current system ROM and the ROM available for
        update will be displayed.

     3. Click on the 'Install' button.  The system ROM will be updated
        with the new version.

     4. When the update completes, click on the 'Reboot' button to
        restart the system so that the new ROM will become effective.

3. ALTERNATIVE USAGE SCENARIOS

   This procedure describes the steps necessary to update the system
   ROM using CPQSETUP in a non-interactive (silent) mode.

   1. Run the CPQSETUP.EXE installation program with the following syntax:
      "cpqsetup.exe /s /r"

      /s is for silent operation
      /r is to specify a reboot after the update is complete
      /f is optional for forcing an update to occur even if the
         component is already up-to-date, or the current ROM
         version is newer than the available ROM version (i.e.
         downgrading to a previous version)

   2. The system ROM will be updated with no user interaction and the
      system will reboot to allow the new ROM revision to be effective.

4. NOTES

   1. To see the results of the ROM update, you may view the contents of
      the log file located in \cpqsystem\log.
