Defining the attribute for a Fibre Channel port or an iSCSI port

To transfer GAD data, you must define the Initiator ports on the storage systems at the primary site and the RCU Target ports on the storage systems at the secondary sites.

CautionTo avoid an invalid disconnection, make sure that the number of servers connected to a single Target port is 128 or fewer. If 128 or more servers are connected to a Target port, the server connection might be disconnected after the port type is changed from Target to RCU Target.

Before you begin

  • Storage Administrator (System Resource Management) role is required.
  • Before changing a Target port to Initiator port, prepare the following:
    • Check that the port is offline from the server.
    • Disconnect the port from the server.
    • Delete the path to the port.
  • Before changing a Fibre Channel port or iSCSI port from Initiator to Target or to RCU Target, prepare the following:
    • Delete all paths from the Initiator port to the remote storage system.
    • Disconnect the connection from the local storage system to the remote storage system.

Procedure

  1. In the Storage Systems tree, select Ports / Host Groups.

  2. Select the Ports tab.

  3. Select the port whose attribute you want to change.

  4. Click Edit Ports

  5. Select the Port Attribute check box on, and select the port attribute (Initiator or RCU Target).

For settings other than Port Attribute, see the Provisioning Guide for the storage system.

  6. Click Finish.

  7. In the Confirm window, check the settings you made, and then enter the task name in Task Name.

  8. Click Apply.

The task is registered. The Tasks window appears if the Go to tasks window for status check box is selected.
