Suspending GAD pairs

You can suspend individual GAD pairs.

Before you begin

  • Storage Administrator (Remote Copy) role is required.
  • In the Remote Replication window or the View Pair Properties window, the pair status must be either of the following:
    • When the local volume is a P-VOL (Primary is displayed in the Pair Position column), the pair status must be INIT/COPY, COPY, or PAIR.
    • When the local volume is an S-VOL (Secondary is displayed in the Pair Position column), the pair status must be PAIR, the I/O mode must be Mirror(Read Local), and the CTG ID column must be blank.

Procedure

  1. In the Storage Systems tree, select Replication, and then Remote Replication.

  2. In the GAD Pairs tab, select the pair you want to suspend, and then click Suspend Pairs.

  3. Check that the pair you want to suspend is displayed in the Selected Pairs table.

  4. In the Confirm window, check the settings you made, and then enter the task name in Task Name.

  5. Click Apply.

The task is registered. The Tasks window appears if the Go to tasks window for status check box is selected.

Next steps

After suspending a pair, in the Remote Replication window, check that the pair status of the GAD pair is PSUS (status when the pair is suspended from the storage system at the primary site) or SSWS (status when the pair is suspended from the storage system at the secondary site).

To check the status of a pair that is being suspended, click the Refresh button at the top right corner in the main window of Device Manager - Storage Navigator, or display detailed information in the View Pair Properties window.
