Deleting data encryption keys from a file
Delete data encryption keys from a file on the HDvM - SN computer.
You can only delete encryption keys with a Free attribute can be deleted. Encryption keys with the other attributes cannot be deleted.
Before you begin
- Back up the secondary data encryption key. See Backing up data encryption keys.
- Ensure the key is not allocated to the parity group. Use the Encryption Keys window and check the key allocation.
- You must have the Security Administrator (View & Modify) role.
Procedure
Display the Device Manager - Storage Navigator main window.
Select Administration in Explorer, and select Encryption Keys.
The Encryption Keys window is opened.On the Encryption Keys tab, select the key ID for the key you want to delete from the Encryption Keys table, and click .
To back up encryption keys to the key management server, click Next. To back up encryption keys to the server, see Backing up the keys to a key management server.
In the Delete Keys window, click Finish.
In the Confirm window, confirm the settings, and enter your task name in Task Name.
If you want the Task window to open after you click Apply, select Go to tasks window for status.Click Apply.
In the message that appears asking whether to apply the setting to the storage system, click OK.
The data encryption key is deleted.
