Blocking LDEVs

Use this procedure to block internal and external volumes (LDEVs). A volume must be blocked before you can format it or shred it.

You can block volumes from any of the following tabs:

  • LDEVs tab when you make a selection from Parity Groups.
  • LDEVs tab when you select Logical Devices.
  • Virtual Volumes tab when you select a Pool.

Before you begin

  • The Storage Administrator (Provisioning) role is required to perform this task.

Procedure

  1. Click Storage Systems, and then expand the Storage Systems tree.

  2. Click Logical Devices.

  3. From the table, select the LDEV you want to block.

  4. Click More Actions Block LDEVs.

  5. Verify the settings in the Confirm window, enter a unique Task Name or accept the default, and then click Apply.

    If Go to tasks window for status is checked, the Tasks window opens.
