Configuring the Device Manager - Storage Navigator environment

This section provides instructions for setting customized behaviors on Device Manager - Storage Navigator for your storage system, including timeout and polling periods, email notifications, and so on. Also, instructions are included for saving your Device Manager - Storage Navigator configuration settings and restoring them as needed.

  Device Manager - Storage Navigator (HDvM - SN) provides a unified GUI for managing and optimizing the storage systems. HDvM - SN communicates directly with the storage system using a LAN to obtain storage system configuration and status information and send user-requested commands to the storage system.

• Backing up HDvM - SN configuration files

  Before replacing an SVP, you must make a backup copy of the Device Manager - Storage Navigator configuration files on the SVP. You can then use the backup copy to restore the configuration file if it becomes necessary, or to configure a replacement SVP if one fails.
