Introduction

This chapter provides an overview of the SNMP implementation for monitoring Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G100, G200, G400, G600, G800 and Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform F400, F600, F800 storage systems, including the agent and management functions.

  Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is an industry-standard protocol for managing and monitoring network devices, including storage devices, routers, and hubs. Hitachi SNMP Agent reports information via SNMP to the SNMP manager on the host server and supports SNMP versions v1, v2c, and v3.
