Setting Fields

Item

Description

Delete Mode

Specify the deletion mode.

  • Normal: The selected pair is deleted.
  • Force: The selected pair is forcibly deleted.

If you select Force, the pair is deleted, even if the local storage system cannot communicate with the remote storage system. The server waiting for the device-end (I/O completion signal) from the local storage system that is not able to communicate with the remote storage system is released, and then you can continue to operate the server.

Note: You can select Force only when the I/O mode of both the primary volume and the secondary volume is Block. If you want to delete the GAD pair forcibly when the I/O mode is other than block, contact HDS for assistance.

Note: If you select Force, the GAD pair must be removed from the storage system both at the primary site and at the secondary site. When the server can access both volumes, if you delete the pair forcibly with the Volume Access option specified as Enable, data failure might occur because the contents of each volume are not the same. Therefore, delete the pair according to the following procedure:

    1. Stop access from the server to one of the pair volumes.
    2. Select the volume for which access from the server has been stopped, and delete the pair forcibly with the Volume Access option set to Disable.
    3. Select the volume for which access from the server continues, and delete the pair forcibly with the Volume Access option set to Enable.

Volume Access

Specify one of the following:

  • Enable: The virtual LDEV ID of the volume in the local storage system is not deleted, and the server can access the volume even if the pair is deleted.
  • Disable: The virtual LDEV ID of the volume in the local storage system is deleted, and the server cannot access the volume after the pair is deleted. Set the reserve attribute for the secondary volume.
