Device Manager - Storage Navigator GUI reference for GAD
This appendix describes the Device Manager - Storage Navigator windows for global-active device (GAD) operations.

- Global-active device
The global-active device (GAD) feature supports read/write copies of the same data in two places at the same time. Its active-active design implements cross-mirrored storage volumes between two matched storage systems accepting read/write I/Os on both sides that are continuously updated. Global-active device assures that an up-to-date storage volume is always available and enables production workloads on both systems, while maintaining full data consistency and protection. In addition, the use of active-active stretch clustering can also be used for nondisruptive workload migration and nondisruptive data migration, without requiring the use of a separate intermediate system.
