Disabling or removing the Encryption License Key software

Use this workflow to disable or remove the Encryption License Key software.

NoteWhen you disable a software license, you can re-enable the license. When you remove a software license, you must contact customer support if you want to re-enable the license. For additional information about disabling and removing software licenses, see the System Administrator Guide.

Before you begin

  • Verify that encryption is disabled on all encrypted parity groups.

If encryption is enabled on any parity groups, the software license cannot be disabled or removed. For instructions on disabling encryption, see Disabling data encryption on a parity group that does not contain pool volumes.

  • Verify that the encryption environmental settings have been initialized.

If the encryption environmental settings have not been initialized, the software license cannot be disabled or removed. For instructions on initializing the encryption environmental settings, see Initializing the encryption environment settings.

  • You must have the Storage Administrator (Initial Configuration) role to disable or remove a software license key.

  1. In the Explorer pane, click Administration, and then click License Keys.

  2. In the License Keys window, select Encryption License Key, and then click Disable Licenses or Remove.
