Resynchronizing GAD pairs by consistency group

You can resynchronize GAD pairs registered to a consistency group in a batch.

Before you begin

  • The Storage Administrator (Remote Copy) role is required.
  • The consistency group must contain GAD pairs (Used must be displayed for Usage in the Remote Replication window or GAD Consistency Group Properties window).
  • In the Remote Replication window or the GAD Consistency Group Properties window, the status of the consistency group (displayed in the Status column) must be one of the following:
    • Suspending
    • PSUS or PSUE, and the I/O mode of the consistency group must be local (Local must be displayed in the I/O Mode column of the Remote Replication window)
    • SSWS (swap resync operation (P-VOL and S-VOL are reversed) is performed)
  • The resource group to which the pair volumes of the consistency group belong must be assigned to the user group to which the user belongs.

Procedure

  1. In the Storage Systems tree, select Replication, and then Remote Replication.

  2. In the GAD Consistency Groups tab, select the consistency group you want to resynchronize, and then click Resync Consistency Groups.

  3. Make sure the consistency group to be resynchronized appears in the Selected Consistency Groups table.

  4. In Copy Pace, specify the maximum number of tracks to be copied in a single remote I/O. The default is 15 (fast copy pace). To change the copy pace, enter a number from 1 to 4:

    • The speed of 1 is a slow copy pace, and is used to reduce impact on host I/O.
    • The speeds of 2 and 3 are a medium copy pace.
    • The speed of 4 is a fast copy pace, and the host I/O performance might be degraded.

If you enter a number from 5 to 15, the speed of 4 (fast copy pace) is used.

  5. Select ALUA Mode.

  6. Click Finish.

  7. In the Confirm window, check the settings you made, and then enter the task name for Task Name.

  8. Click Apply.

The task is registered. The Tasks window appears if the Go to tasks window for status check box is selected.

Next steps

After resynchronizing pairs by consistency group, in the Remote Replication window, make sure all GAD pairs registered to the consistency group are correctly displayed (as in a pair status).

To check the status of pairs that are being synchronized by consistency group, click the refresh button in the top right corner of the main window of Storage Navigator to refresh the information in the Remote Replication window, or view the detailed information in the Consistency Group Properties window.
