Workflow for consistency group pair-split with shared volumes
If you are sharing HTI P-VOLs with SI, UR, or TC S-VOLs within a storage system, you can consistency group pair-split to split the pairs that are defined in a consistency group to store the snapshot data. Consistency group pair-split maintains consistency for the HTI S-VOLs that are defined in the consistency group.
If you are sharing HTI P-VOLs with UR or TC S-VOLs, use the following process to consistency group pair-split:
Define the HTI pairs in a consistency group.
For more information about defining pairs in consistency groups, see Creating Thin Image pairs and defining them in snapshot or consistency groups using the CCI.
Use the consistency group pair-split to maintain consistency for multiple HTI S-VOLs.
The following figures illustrate these configurations.
The following table explains when you can run the consistency group pair-split with shared volumes.

You cannot maintain the consistency of the HTI S-VOLs that are defined in the consistency group in the following cases:
You are sharing an HTI P-VOL with SI S-VOLs, TC, and/or UR S-VOLs, and the status of those pairs are not the same.
You are sharing the HTI P-VOL with a UR S-VOL and they do not share the same journal.
