Sharing Thin Image volumes with Dynamic Provisioning in a single storage system
If you are using HTI and HDP in a single storage system, note the following when creating HTI pairs:
You can create an HTI pair whose P-VOL is an HDP V-VOL only if you are not currently expanding the HDP V-VOL capacity.
Performing an HTI paircreate operation while zero pages are being reclaimed (including reclamation by WriteSame, Unmap command, or rebalancing) results in the zero-page operation being interrupted.
HTI pair creation might be rejected if the Unmap command operation is in progress with system option mode 905 ON. Wait a while and then retry the operation. If the operation still fails, set system option mode 905 to OFF and retry again.
You can use a maximum HDP volume size of 4 TB (4,398,046,511,104 bytes) as an HTI P-VOL. You can create a volume of 4 TB only if the unit you specified when creating the volume is block (8,589,934,592 block).
The following table explains how the maximum LDEV capacity differs depending on the capacity unit you specify when creating the volume.
