Create parity groups by selecting drives automatically
Perform one of following to display the Create Parity Groups window.
For Hitachi Command Suite:
On the Resource tab, expand the Storage Systems tree. Right click Parity Groups of the target storage system, then select System GUI. On the Parity Groups tab, select Create Parity Groups.
For the General Tasks pane in Storage Navigator:
On the General Tasks pane, select Create Parity Groups.
For the Parity Groups window in Storage Navigator:
Expand the Storage Systems tree and select Parity Groups. On the Parity Groups tab, select Create Parity Groups.
In the Hitachi Device Manager - Storage Navigator main window, click Actions > Parity Group > Create Parity Groups to open the window.
Perform one of following to display the Create Parity Groups window.
On the General Tasks pane, select Create Parity Groups.
Expand the Storage Systems tree and select Parity Groups. On the Parity Groups tab, select Create Parity Groups.
In the Hitachi Device Manager - Storage Navigator main window, click Actions > Parity Group > Create Parity Groups to open the window.
From the Drive Type/RPM/Capacity list, select the drive.
From the RAID Level list, select the RAID level.
From the Drive Selection field, select Auto.
In the Number of Parity Groups text box, enter the number which you want to create.
Click Options.
In the Initial Parity Group ID text box, type the number of the initial parity group ID.
The smallest available number is displayed in the text box as a default. If a parity group ID unavailable, no number is displayed.
When you specify a parity group ID that was already registered, the smallest available ID is displayed by default instead of the value you entered. If a parity group ID unavailable, no number is displayed.
From the Drive Box Type list, select the drive box type.
From the Initial Drive Box list, select the drive box.
From the Drive Select Type field, select Disperse or Linear.
From the Cache Partition list, select the CLPR number.
From the Encryption field, select Enable or Disable.
From the Copy-Back Mode field, select Enable or Disable.
Click Add.
The created parity group is added to the Selected Parity Groups table. If invalid values are set, an error message appears.
When you select multiple rows and click Concatenate, if selected parity groups can be concatenated, the message appears asking whether you want to continue of the concatenating. If you want to continue it, click OK. If selected parity groups cannot be concatenated, an error message appears.
If you select a row and click Change Settings, the Change Settings window appears. After you changed the setting of the parity group, click OK.
If you select a row and click Detail, the Parity Group Properties window appears.
If you select a row and click Remove, the message appears asking whether you want to remove the selected row or rows. If you want to remove the row, click OK.
Click Next.
The Create LDEVs window appears.
If applying the setting so far to the storage system, click Finish and the Confirm window appears.
In the Confirm window, click Apply to register the setting in the task.
If you select a row and click Detail, the Parity Group Properties window appears.
If the Go to tasks window for status check box is selected, the Tasks window appears.
