Volume type

DP-VOL (V-VOL)

The LDEV number is handled in the same way as for normal volumes.

Maximum number of DP-VOLs

  • Virtual Storage Platform G600 or Virtual Storage Platform G400

Up to 4,095 per pool. Any number of available DP-VOLs can be associated with a pool.

Up to 4,095 volumes per system. If external volumes and V-VOLs are used, the total number of external volumes and V-VOLs must be 4,095 or less.

  • Virtual Storage Platform G200 or Virtual Storage Platform G100

Up to 2,047 per pool. Any number of available DP-VOLs can be associated with a pool.

Up to 2,047 volumes per system. If external volumes and V-VOLs are used, the total number of external volumes and V-VOLs must be 2,047 or less.

Volume capacity

Volume capacity from 46.87 MB to 59.9 TB per volume.

  • TB: 0.01 to 59.99

  • GB: 0.04 to 61,439.99

  • MB: 46.87 to 62,914,556.25

  • Blocks: 96,000 to 128,849,011,200

However, if you use the volume as a P-VOL or S-VOL of ShadowImage, Volume Migration, TrueCopy, Universal Replicator, the volume capacity must be 4 TB or less.

Total maximum volume capacity is as follows:

  • Virtual Storage Platform G600 or Virtual Storage Platform G400: 6.5 PB (The shared memory must be installed)

  • Virtual Storage Platform G200: 3.5 PB (The shared memory must be installed)

  • Virtual Storage Platform G100: 0.12 PB

System Option Mode 867 OFF

When you perform the format operation on a DP-VOL, the storage system releases the allocated page area in the DP-VOL. The quick format cannot be performed.
