Configuring email notification
You can configure the required information to notify storage system failure (SIM) by email. For information about SIM host reporting, see the Hitachi SNMP Agent User Guide.
Prerequisites
You must have a Storage Administrator account with an Initial Configuration role to perform this task.
You must have a mail server that supports the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP).
If a firewall is used, port 25 must be used.
Procedure
In any of the following steps, if you enter an invalid character or do not enter required information, a message box displays, asking you to reenter the information.
In the Hitachi Command Suite:
In the Resources tab, click Storage Systems, expand the storage system tree, and select Maintenance Utility under Local Storage System.
In the Management tree, select Alert Notifications.
In Device Manager - Storage Navigator
Click Settings. The Set Up Alert Notifications window displays.
In the Maintenance Utility menu, select Alert Notifications.
o Host Report: Sends alerts only to the host(s) for which SIM report setting is made.
o All: Sends alerts to all hosts.
The alert notification destination is common to Syslog, SNMP, and Email.
Select the Email tab.
In the Email tab, select Enable in Email Notice .
In the Registered Address table, set the email destination address and attributes (To, Cc, Bcc).
To add an email address, click Add. On the Add Address window, set the email address and attributes.
To change an email address and attributes, select the line for the email address to be changed, and click Change. In the Change Settings window, change the email address and attributes.
You can select more than one email address. When you selected more than one email address, you can change only attributes.
To delete an email address, select the line for the email address to be deleted and click Delete. You can select more than one email address.
This field is mandatory when you select Enable in Email Notice.
Enter the email source address (mandatory) and return address (optional).
You can use up to 255 alphanumeric characters and symbols (! # $ % & ` + - * / ' ^ { } _ . )
Enter the following email server information:
Identifier: To specify a host name, select Identifier. You can use up to 63 alphanumeric characters and symbols ("! # $ ` + - * ' { } _ . ).
IPv4: To set an IPv4 address, select IPv4, and enter four numbers within the range of 0 to 255.
IPv6: To set an IPv6 address, select IPv6, and enter eight hexadecimal alphanumeric characters within the range of 0 to FFFF. You can also use an abbreviated-format IPv6 address.
Example: YYYY:YYYY:YYYY:YYYY:YYYY:YYYY:YYYY:YYYY (Y indicates a hexadecimal digit)
In SMTP Authentication, select Enable to use SMTP authentication. Select Disable to not use SMTP authentication. If you select Enable, enter an account and password for SMTP authentication.
This field is mandatory when you selected Enable in Email Notice.
Click Finish. The Confirm window opens.
Click Apply. A completion message box displays. Click OK.
