The Storage Administrator (Provisioning) role is required to perform this task.
Drives which are released from spare drives can be used as data drives.
Perform one of following to display the Assign Spare Drives window.
For Hitachi Command Suite:
On the Resource tab, expand the Storage Systems tree. Right click Parity Groups of the target storage system. Click Operation, then Assign Spare Drives.
For Storage Navigator:
Display the Drive tab,
To display the Drive tab, perform one of following:
(1) In the storage system tree, expand Parity Groups, select the Drive tab.
(2) In the storage system tree, expand Parity Groups > Internal or External, select the Drive tab.
(3) In the storage system tree, expand Parity Groups and select the parity group ID, then select the Drive tab.
Select the row of the drive box to which releases the spare drive.
The drive box row which is displaying Spare on the Usage column can be selected.
If the Usage column is not displayed on the Drive tab or you do not select drive boxes, go to the next step.
To display the Assign Spare Drives window, perform one of following:
(1) Click Assign Spare Drives.
(2) Click Actions > Parity Group > Assign Spare Drives to open the window.
In the Selected Spare Drives table, select the drive box. Then click .
The selected drive box is registered in the Available Drives table. If you select a row and click Remove, the message appears asking whether you want to remove the selected row or rows. If you want to remove the row, click OK.
Click Finish.
The Confirm window opens.
In the Confirm window, confirm the settings, in Task Name type a unique name for this task or accept the default, then click Apply.
If Go to tasks window for status is checked, the Tasks window opens.
