Create parity groups by selecting drives automatically

  1. Perform one of following to display the Create Parity Groups window.

For Hitachi Command Suite:

For the General Tasks pane in Storage Navigator:

For the Parity Groups window in Storage Navigator:

  1. Perform one of following to display the Create Parity Groups window.

  1. From the Drive Type/RPM/Capacity list, select the drive.

  1. From the RAID Level list, select the RAID level.

  1. From the Drive Selection field, select Auto.

  1. In the Number of Parity Groups text box, enter the number which you want to create.

  1. Click Options.

  1. In the Initial Parity Group ID text box, type the number of the initial parity group ID.

The smallest available number is displayed in the text box as a default. If a parity group ID unavailable, no number is displayed.

When you specify a parity group ID that was already registered, the smallest available ID is displayed by default instead of the value you entered. If a parity group ID unavailable, no number is displayed.

  1. From the Drive Box Type list, select the drive box type.

  1. From the Initial Drive Box list, select the drive box.

  1. From the Drive Select Type field, select Disperse or Linear.

  1. From the Cache Partition list, select the CLPR number.

  1. From the Encryption field, select Enable or Disable.

  1. From the Copy-Back Mode field, select Enable or Disable.

  1. Click Add.

The created parity group is added to the Selected Parity Groups table. If invalid values are set, an error message appears.

  1. Click Next.

The Create LDEVs window appears.

If applying the setting so far to the storage system, click Finish and the Confirm window appears.

  1. In the Confirm window, click Apply to register the setting in the task.

If you select a row and click Detail, the Parity Group Properties window appears.

If the Go to tasks window for status check box is selected, the Tasks window appears.
