Configuring email notification

You can configure the required information to notify storage system failure (SIM) by email. For information about SIM host reporting, see the SNMP Agent User Guide.

Before you begin

Procedure

  1. In Command Suite:

  1. In the Resources tab, click Storage Systems, expand the storage system tree, and select Maintenance Utility under Local Storage System.

  1. In the Management tree, select Alert Notifications.

In Device Manager - Storage Navigator:

  1. In the Maintenance Utility menu, select Alert Notifications.

  1. Click Set Up on the Alert Notifications window. The Set Up Alert Notifications window displays.

  1. In Notification Alert, select the destination of the alert notification.

Host Report: Sends alerts only to the host(s) for which SIM report setting is made.

All: Sends alerts to all hosts.

The alert notification destination is common to Syslog, SNMP, and Email.

  1. On the Email tab, for Mail Notice select Enable.

  1. In the Email Settings table, set the email destination address and attributes (To, Cc, Bcc).

This field is mandatory when you select Enable in Mail Notice.

  1. Enter the email source address (mandatory) and return address (optional).

You can use up to 255 alphanumeric characters (ASCII codes) and symbols (! # $ % & ` + - * / ' ^ { } _ . )

  1. Enter the following email server information:

Example: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX (X indicates a numeral)

Example: YYYY:YYYY:YYYY:YYYY:YYYY:YYYY:YYYY:YYYY (Y indicates a hexadecimal digit)

  1. In SMTP Authentication, select Enable to use SMTP authentication. Select Disable to not use SMTP authentication. If you select Enable, enter an account and password for SMTP authentication.

You can use up to 255 alphanumeric characters (ASCII codes) and symbols (! # $ % & ` + - * / ' ^ { } _ .).

This field is mandatory when you selected Enable in Mail Notice.

  1. Click Apply. A completion message box displays. Click OK.
