Configuring a
Dynamic Tiering pool for use by
active flash
Use this procedure to enable the active flash feature on a Dynamic Tiering pool that includes SSD drives.
You can change a Dynamic Tiering pool to use active flash. However, you cannot change the pool status of Dynamic Tiering to disable in the following cases:
- Tier relocation is being executed manually.
- Pool-VOLs are being deleted.
- Zero pages are being reclaimed.
Before you begin

The Storage Administrator (Provisioning) role is required to perform this task.
- Pool volumes whose drive type is SSD are installed.
Procedure

In the Storage Systems tree on the left pane of the main window, select Pools.

From the Pools table on right, click the row of the pool you want to change.

Perform one of following to display the Edit Pools window.

Click More Actions and select Edit Pools.

Click Actions > Pool > Edit Pools to open the window.

Check Active Flash to ON.
If there is no pool volume whose drive type is SSD, the check box cannot be selected.

Click Finish.
The Confirm window appears. -
In the Task Name text box, enter the task name.
You can enter up to 32 ASCII characters and symbols in all, except for \ / : , ; * ? " < > |. The value "date-window name" is entered by default.

In the Confirm window, click Apply to register the setting in the task. If the Go to tasks window for status check box is selected, the Tasks window appears.
