Changing the setting of accelerated compression-enabled parity groups to disabled

If you want to change the setting of accelerated compression from enabled to disabled, perform following procedures:

  1. In the operation taget pool, confirm whether the pool shrinking can be performed by using the following decision formula:

Decision formula: Pool used capacity < Pool capacity after shrinking × Depletion threshold

Pool capacity after shrinking is calculated by using the following formula:

Pool capacity after shrinking = Pool capacity before shrinking - Total capacity of pool-VOLs of which Accelerated Compression is Enabled

If the above decision formula is established, you can delete pool-VOLs of which Accelerated Compression is Enabled. Go to Step 3.

If the above decision formula is not established, you may not delete pool-VOLs of which Accelerated Compression is Enabled. Go to Step 2.

  1. Expand the pool.

To expand the pool, add the capacity which is larger than the total of pool-VOLs of which Accelerated Compression is Enabled. For LDEVs to be added as pool-VOLs, use LDEVs of which Accelerated Compression is Disabled.

  1. Shrink the pool so that all pool-VOLs of which Accelerated Compression is Enabled in the pool are deleted.

  1. Format the parity group of which Accelerated Compression is Enabled.

olh-note.gif You must open the Format Parity Groups window.

  1. Delete LDEVs of which Expanded Space Used is Yes.

  1. Change the setting of Accelerated Compression from Enable to Disable in the Edit Parity Groups window.
