Releasing spare drives
The Storage Administrator (Provisioning) role is required to perform this task.
Drives released from spare drives can be used as data drives.
Perform one of the following to display the Assign Spare Drives window.
For Command Suite:
On the Resource tab, expand the Storage Systems tree. Right-click Parity Groups of the target storage system. Click Operation>Assign Spare Drives.
For Storage Navigator:
Display the Drives tab.
To display the Drives tab, perform one of the following:
(1) To display all drives in the storage system, in the storage system tree, select Parity Groups and then select the Drives tab.
(2) To display drives related to Internal, in the storage system tree, select Parity Groups > Internal and then select the Drives tab.
(3) To display drives related to each parity group, in the storage system tree, select Parity Groups, select the parity group ID, and then select the Drives tab.
Select the row of the drive box that releases the spare drive.
The drive box row displaying Spare on the Usage column can be selected.
If the Usage column is not displayed on the Drives tab or you do not select drive boxes, go to the next step.
To display the Assign Spare Drives window, perform one of the following:
(1) Click Assign Spare Drives.
(2) Click Actions > Parity Group > Assign Spare Drives to open the window.
In the Selected Spare Drives table, select the drive box. Then click .
The selected drive box is registered in the Available Drives table. If you select a row and click Remove, a message appears asking whether you want to remove the selected row or rows. To remove the row, click OK.
Click Finish.
The Confirm window opens.
In the Confirm window, confirm the settings, in Task Name type a unique name for this task or accept the default, then click Apply.
If Go to tasks window for status is checked, the Tasks window opens.
