Requirements

Volume type

DP-VOL (V-VOL)

The LDEV number is handled in the same way as for normal volumes.

Maximum number of DP-VOLs

For VSP Fx00 models, only SSD can be specified.

  • VSP G800 or VSP F800

Up to 14,080 per pool (For the pool of the data direct mapping attribute, up to 1,023 per pool). Any number of available DP-VOLs can be associated with a pool.

Up to 14,080 volumes per system. If external volumes and V-VOLs are used, the total number of external volumes and V-VOLs must be 14,080 or less.

  • VSP G400, G600 or VSP F400, F600

Up to 4,095 per pool (For the pool of the data direct mapping attribute, up to 1,023 per pool). Any number of available DP-VOLs can be associated with a pool.

Up to 4,095 volumes per system. If external volumes and V-VOLs are used, the total number of external volumes and V-VOLs must be 4,095 or less.

  • VSP G200 or Virtual Storage Platform G100

Up to 2,047 per pool (For the pool of the data direct mapping attribute, up to 1,023 per pool). Any number of available DP-VOLs can be associated with a pool.

Up to 2,047 volumes per system. If external volumes and V-VOLs are used, the total number of external volumes and V-VOLs must be 2,047 or less.

Volume capacity

Volume capacity from 46.87 MB to 256 TB per volume.

  • TB: 0.01 to 256

  • GB: 0.04 to 262,144

  • MB: 46.87 to 268,435,456

  • Blocks: 96,000 to 549,755,813,888

Total maximum volume capacity is as follows:

  • VSP G800 or VSP F800: 6.5 PB (The control memory must be installed)

  • VSP G400, G600 or VSP F400, F600: 6.5 PB (The control memory must be installed)

  • VSP G200: 3.5 PB (The control memory must be installed)

  • Virtual Storage Platform G100: 0.12 PB

Path definition

Available.

LDEV format

Available (Quick Format is not available.)

System Option Mode 867 OFF

When you perform the format operation on a DP-VOL, the storage system releases the allocated page area in the DP-VOL. The quick format cannot be performed. If the LDEV format is applied to V-VOLs that are enabled for full allocation, the used pool capacity is not changed before the LDEV format is applied.

olh-note.gif System Option Mode 867 OFF: When you format an LDEV on a DP-VOL, the capacity mapped to the DP-VOL is released to the pool as free space.
