Before you begin

Before you begin provisioning your storage system, certain requirements must be met.

System requirements

• The hardware and firmware for your storage system and Device Manager - Storage Navigator essential for operating the storage system must be installed and configured for use

• A VSP G200, G400, G600, G800 or VSP F400, F600, F800 storage system

• The storage system must have parity groups installed

• A management client

Control memory requirements

• For details about the installing of the control memory, see the hardware reference guide for your storage system.

• Before the control memory is uninstalled, all Dynamic Provisioning, Dynamic Tiering, and active flash pools must be deleted.

If Dynamic Provisioning is used in conjunction with Dynamic Tiering or Thin Image pools, additional control memory is needed. The amount of additional control memory needed depends on the size of the Dynamic Provisioning and Dynamic Tiering pools. No additional control memory is required for active flash.
