Formatting LDEVs (Normal format)
The Storage Administrator (Provisioning) role is required to perform this task.
This procedure performs Normal formatting on the volume.
Perform one of the following to display the tab.
For Command Suite:
On the Resource tab, expand the Storage Systems tree. Right-click Volumes of the target storage system, then select System GUI. Displays the LDEVs tab.
For Storage Navigator:
Expand the Storage Systems tree, and select Parity Groups > Internal or External > parity group. Display the LDEVs tab.
Expand the Storage Systems tree and select Logical Devices. Display the LDEVs tab.
Expand the Storage Systems tree and select Pools. Display the Virtual Volumes tab.
Select and block the LDEV to be formatted.

Perform one of the following to display the Format LDEVs window.
For Command Suite:
On the LDEVs tab, select Format LDEVs.
For the Parity Groups window in Storage Navigator:
Select the LDEVs to be operated, click More Actions, and select Format LDEVs.
Click Actions > Logical Device > Format LDEVs to open the window.
For the Logical Devices window in Storage Navigator:
On the LDEVs tab, select LDEVs to be operated, and click Format LDEVs.
Click Actions > Logical Device > Format LDEVs to open the window.
For the Pools window in Storage Navigator:
Select the LDEVs to be operated, click More Actions, and select Format LDEVs.
Click Actions > Logical Device > Format LDEVs to open the window.
In the Format LDEVs window, select the format type from the Format Type list, then click Finish.
In the Confirm window, click Apply.
If Go to tasks window for status is checked, the Tasks window opens.
