Changing HBA iSCSI name or nickname of a host bus adapter

The Storage Administrator (Provisioning) role is required to perform this task.

In iSCSI environments, host bus adapters can be identified by HBA iSCSI names or nicknames.

1. Perform one of the following to display the Hosts tab.

For Command Suite:

• On the Resource tab, expand the Storage Systems tree. On the target storage system, click Port / Host Group. On the Ports / Host Groups / iSCSI Targets window, select the Hosts tab.

For Storage Navigator:

• To display all hosts in the storage system, expand the Storage Systems tree and select Ports / Hosts Groups / iSCSI Targets. Select the Hosts tab.

• To display hosts related to each port, expand the Storage Systems tree and select Ports / Hosts Groups / iSCSI Targets. Select the port in the tree, and select the Hosts tab.

• To display hosts related to each iSCSI target, expand the Storage Systems tree and select Ports / Hosts Groups / iSCSI Targets and the port. Select the iSCSI target, and select the Hosts tab.

2. Select the host bus adapter you want to change from the list of hosts.

3. Display the Edit Host window by performing one of the following:

• Click Edit Host.

• From the Actions menu, select Ports/Host Groups, iSCSI, then Edit Host.

4. To change the HBA iSCSI name, select the HBA iSCSI Name check box. Select iqn or eui, then type a new name in the text box.

To change the nickname, select the Host Name check box, then type a new nickname in Host Name.

5. If necessary, check Apply same settings to the HBA iSCSI Name in all ports.

If checked, new settings affect other ports. For example, if the same host bus adapter (the same iSCSI Name) is located below ports CL1-A and CL2-A in the tree, when you select the host bus adapter (or the iSCSI Name) from below one of the ports and change the nickname to hba1, the host bus adapter below the other port will also be renamed hba1.

However, new settings will not affect any port if:

• The resulting nickname is already used as the nickname of a host bus adapter connected to the port, or

• The resulting iSCSI Name exists in the port.

6. Click Finish.

7. In the Confirm window, confirm the settings, in Task Name type a unique name for this task or accept the default, then click Apply.

If Apply same settings to the HBA WWN in all ports is checked, a dialog box opens listing the host bus adapter to be changed. Confirm the changes and click OK. Otherwise, click Cancel.

If Go to tasks window for status is checked, the Tasks window opens.
