Creating GAD pairs

You must create GAD pairs on the primary storage system.

Before you begin

Procedure

  1. On the Resources tab, expand the Storage Systems tree, right-click the local storage system, and then click Remote Replication.

  1. Select the GAD Pairs tab, and click Create GAD Pairs to open the Create GAD Pairs window.

  1. Specify the remote storage system.

  1. (For VSP G100, G200, G400, G600, G800 only) In Primary Volume Selection, for Selection Object, select the port type of the local storage system.

  1. In Primary Volume Selection, from LU Selection, select the port ID and the host group name or iSCSI target alias of the local storage system.

The volumes that can be used as primary volumes are displayed in the Available LDEVs table.

  1. In Primary Volume Selection, from the Available LDEVs table, select the primary volume.

Specify the actual LDEV ID when specifying a volume in a virtual storage machine. Do not specify the virtual LDEV ID.

  1. In the Secondary Volume Selection, from Base Secondary Volume, specify the information related to the base secondary volume.

  1. Select Mirror ID.

  1. Select Quorum Disks.

  1. Select CTG ID. To register GAD pairs to a consistency group, set the same mirror ID and quorum disk for all pairs in the consistency group.

  1. Click Options if necessary.

  1. Select Initial Copy Type.

  1. In Copy Pace, specify the maximum number of tracks to be copied in a single remote I/O. The default is 15 (fast copy pace). To change the copy pace, enter a number from 1 to 4:

If you enter a number from 5 to 15, the speed of 4 (fast copy pace) is used.

  1. Select ALUA Mode.

  1. Click Add.

The created pair is added in the Selected Pairs table. If you want to remove a pair from the Selected Pairs table, select the pair and click Remove. If you select a pair and click Change Settings, the Change Settings window appears and you can change the pair settings.

  1. Click Finish.

  1. In the Confirm window, check the settings you made, and then enter the task name in Task Name.

  1. Click Apply.

The task is registered, and if the Go to tasks window for status check box is selected, the Tasks window appears.
