Defining port attributes (VSP G1000, G1500, and VSP F1500)

Initiator and RCU target ports must be set up on the primary and secondary systems for TrueCopy command and data transfer.

Before you begin

• Storage Administrator (System Resource Management) is required.

• The number of hosts connected to a target port must be limited to 128 or fewer to avoid disconnection.

• See the topic on planning ports in the TrueCopy User Guide for information about target, initiator, and RCU target ports.

• If you are changing a target port to an initiator port, prepare the port for the change as follows:

• Confirm that the port is offline.

• Disconnect the port from the host.

• Remove all channel paths to the port.

• If you are changing a Fibre channel port or iSCSI port from an initiator port to a target or RCU target port, prepare the port for the change as follows:

• Release all pairs using the ports.

• Delete the paths from the initiator port to the secondary storage system.

• Delete the secondary storage system from the TC relationship. See Deleting TrueCopy.

Procedure

1. In Command Suite:

1. On the Resources tab, click Storage Systems, and then expand All Storage Systems.

2. Expand the target storage system.

3. Click Ports/Host Groups/iSCSI Targets under the target system you selected.

In Device Manager - Storage Navigator:

1. Click Storage Systems, and then expand the Storage Systems tree.

2. In the Storage Systems tree, click Ports/Host Groups/iSCSI Targets.

2. In the Ports/Host Groups/iSCSI Targets window, click the Ports tab, select the port to be changed, and click Edit Ports.

3. In the Edit Ports window, select a Port Attribute: Initiator or RCU Target.

4. Click Finish.

5. In the Confirm window, review the settings and enter a task name in the Task Name box.

6. Click Apply to save your settings.
