Analyzing traffic statistics: one-to-one connections

You must analyze the traffic statistics to determine the upper limit values that should be applied to I/O rates or transfer rates on non-prioritized ports.

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Display the Performance Monitor window.

In Storage Navigator:

  1. Select Analytics in Explorer.

  1. Select Performance Monitor in the tree to open the Performance Monitor window.

In Hitachi Command Suite:

  1. Select the Resources tab, and expand the Storage Systems tree.

  1. Right-click the target storage system and then select Performance Monitor.

  1. In the Performance Monitor window, click Server Priority Manager to open the Server Priority Manager window.

  1. Click to change to Modify mode.

  1. In the Server Priority Manager window, click Server Priority Manager. The Server Priority Manager main window appears.

  1. Select the Port tab.

  1. Select All from the list at the top right corner of the window.

  1. Display the desired traffic statistics as follows:

The list displays the traffic statistics (average and peak I/O rates or transfer rates) of the ports.

  1. Analyze the data in the list to determine the upper limit values that should be applied to non-prioritized ports and, if desired, the threshold values that should be applied to prioritized ports or the storage system.

  1. To view the traffic statistics on data graphs, see Displaying the monitor data on graphs.

To export the traffic statistics (as text in CSV format) for analysis in other applications, see Using Export Tool.
