Cache management device requirements

Cache management devices are used to manage the cache associated with volumes (LDEVs). Each volume (LDEV) requires at least one cache management device. The storage system can manage up to the following number of cache management devices:

• VSP G800 or VSP F800: 32,512

• VSP G400, G600 or VSP F400, F600: 7,936

• VSP G200: 3,840

A DP-VOL might require multiple cache management devices. This topic describes how to calculate the number of cache management devices required.
