Introduction This attached document is describing as for the supported contents by the following program products. XP_ODM package(fileset name is Hp.aix.support.rte) XP_ODM package consists of the following 4 packages (a)XP_FC_ODM_5001I HP.aix.support.rte 5.0.0.1 AIX Support for HP Disk (b)XP_FC_ODM_5005U HP.aix.support.rte 5.0.0.5 AIX Support for HP Disk(Update) (c)XP_FC_ODM_50521U HP.aix.support.rte 5.0.52.1 AIX Support for HP Disk(Update) (d)XP_FC_ODM_50522U HP.aix.support.rte 5.0.52.2 AIX Support for HP Disk(Update) 2. Prerequisite operating system and Applying machine (1) Operating System - AIX 5.2 ML01 (or later) on the AIX Pseries or Power 5 or RS6000 Server - AIX 5.3 (or later) on the AIX Pseries or Power 5 or RS6000 Server devices.fcp.disk.rte 5.2.0.10 or later [How to confirm] (a) The result of "oslevel -r" is 5200-01 or later (b) The result of "lslpp -l devices.fcp.disk.rte" is 5.2.0.10 or later (2)HBA - FC6227/FC6228/FC6239/FC5716/FC1977/FC5758/FC5759/FC1905/FC1910 (IBM branded HBA) (3)Microcode for the RAID - XP512 : 01-18-00 or higher - XP1024 : 21-05-00 or higher - XP12000 : 50-01-19-00 or higher - XP10000 : 50-03-93-00 or higher - XP24000 : 60-01-3x-00 or higher - XP20000 : 60-01-68-00 or higher 3. Installation on the AIX System < Installation > To install the new version of XP_ODM updates for AIX: (1) Log-in as superuser (2) Mount the CD-ROM (3) Copy XPODM2.tar file into AIX directly(/usr/sys/inst.images): # cp XPODM2.tar /usr/sys/inst.images (4) Extract XPODM2.tar (5) Four of XP_ODM packages(XP_FC_ODM_5001I and XP_FC_ODM_5005U and XP_FC_ODM_50521U and XP_FC_ODM_50522U) are created. (6) Create a new .toc file # cd /usr/sys/inst.images # inutoc (7) Use installp to install the AIX support fileset: # smitty install (8) Select Install and Update Software. (9) Select Install Software. (10) You will be prompted for an input device. Enter the directory whether the fileset was copied. (11) Select F4 to list the available installation packages. (12) Select F7 to select both "5.0.0.1 AIX Support for HP Disk Arrays" and "5.0.0.5 AIX Support for HP Disk Arrays(Update)" and "5.0.52.1 AIX Support for HP Disk Arrays(Update)" and "5.0.52.2 AIX Support for HP Disk Arrays(Update)", then select Enter (13) Select Enter to start the installation process (14) If necessary, remove any HP devices already defined as Other FC SCSI disk drive. - To remove one device: # rmdev -dl hdisk(n) - To remove all devices on a path: # rmdev -dl fscsi(n) -R (15) Reboot AIX. (16) Confirm that the parameters have the following values: # lsattr -E -l hdisk(n) pvid *** q_type simple q_err yes queue_depth 2 clr_q no rw_timeout 60 start_timeout 60 reassign_timeout 120 reserve_policy single_path (17) If the value is changed by applying XP_ODM, change the value after committing XP_ODM if necessary. For example, if the queue_depth was set to 4, the chdev command will have to be run to change it back for all hdisks. [Note] As for Queue Depth and rw timeout value, the default IBM rw timeout and queue depth value are different from the recommended values for HP devices. Contact Hitachi and HP for more information on the recommended queue depth value. < Uninstallation > (1) Remove all HP LUNs from the system using the rmdev command: - To remove one device: # rmdev -dl hdisk(n) - To remove all devices on a path: # rmdev -dl fscsi(n) -R (2) Enter smitty install from command line. (3) Select Software Maintenance and Utilities. (4) Select Remove Installed Software. (5) Select F4 for SOFTWARE name to list all installed software. (6) Select (/) for Hp (7) Select the package to remove pressing F7 and then Enter (8) Use either the Tab key or F4 to change PREVIEW only to No. (9) Select Enter to confirm the warning message. (10) Reboot AIX. [Caution] (1) When sharing ports on XP Disk Array with multiple AIX servers, all servers must be at the same XP ODM level. (2) The AIX support non-MPIO ODM update(XP_ODM) and the MPIO ODM update(XP_MPIO_ODM) can not co-exist on the same server. (3) The AIX support non-MPIO ODM update(XP_ODM) and the devices.fcp.sanrise fileset can not co-exist on the same server.
