This section describes how to upload, load, and uninstall
patches.
Context
There are two types of patches: cold patch and hot patch.
A cold patch takes effect only after the switch restarts and a hot
patch takes effect immediately after it is loaded to the switch. On
the Patch page, you can load or uninstall hot
patches only. You can load or uninstall cold patches on the Upgrade page.
- A patch is a kind of software compatible with the system software.
It is used to remove critical bugs of the system software. A patch
file can contain a maximum of 20 patches. The extension name of the
patch file is .pat.
- Before loading patches, you need to save patch files to the storage
device of the switch. Patch files are uploaded to the switch using
HTTP.
- After a patch is uninstalled, delete the patch from the memory.
Procedure
- Choose . The Patch page is displayed.

Uninstall Patch

Uninstall the running patch.

Upload Patch

Select the patch file to be uploaded. The file name is a
string of characters without spaces and the file name extension is .pat.

Load patch
|
Select the patch file to be loaded.

- Click Browse under Upload
Patch, select the patch file to be uploaded, and click Upload.
- Select the patch that you want to load from the Load patch drop-down list box and click Load
patch. The currently loaded patch file is displayed under Patch Information.
