Trap Setting

You can configure the trap function on the device.

Context

A trap is an alarm message sent from the managed device to the NMS to notify administrators of the network faults. After receiving a trap from a managed device, the NMS does not need to reply.

NOTE:

The web management system supports a maximum of 20 trap target hosts. When the number of trap target hosts to be configured exceeds the limit, the system displays a prompt message.

Procedure

Configure trap.

Choose System Management > SNMP > Trap setting in the navigation tree to open the Trap setting page.

Table 1 describes parameters on the Trap setting page.

Parameter	Description
SNMP Trap	Indicates whether the SNMP trap function is enabled. By default, the SNMP trap function is enabled.
Source interface that sends trap messages	Indicates the source interface that sends trap messages. Click Select to select a source interface.

Set parameters.
Click Apply to complete the configuration.

Configure the trap target host.

Create a trap target host.

Choose System Management > SNMP > Trap setting in the navigation tree to open the Trap setting page.

Click New in Trap Target Host to open the Create Trap Target Host page.

Table 2 describes parameters on the Create Trap Target Host page.

Parameter	Description
Target host IP	Specifies the IP address of the target host.
Target Host UDP port	Specifies the port receiving trap messages on the target host. The default port number is 162.
Trap version	Specifies the SNMP version matching the trap messages, including: v1 v2c v3
User Name	Specifies the user name displayed on the NMS. When the trap version is v1 or v2c, the user name is a string of 1 to 32 characters without spaces. When the trap version is v3, the user name must be the same as the user name configured in Community/Group Management.
Security level	This parameter is mandatory when the trap version is v3. Security levels include: No authentication, no encryption Authentication, no encryption Authentication and encryption

Set parameters.
Click OK. The configuration is complete.

Delete the trap target host.

Choose System Management > SNMP > Trap setting in the navigation tree to open the Trap setting page.
Select the items that you want to delete in Trap Target Host, or select all items.
Click Delete. The system asks you whether to delete the items.
Click OK. The configuration is complete.
