Safety Statement

General Requirements

• Observe local laws and regulations when operating devices. Safety instructions in this document are only supplements to local laws and regulations.
• Entries marked as DANGER, WARNING, and CAUTION in this document are only supplements to the safety instructions.
• To ensure human and device safety, observe all marks on devices and all the safety instructions in this document when installing hardware.
• Only qualified personnel are allowed to perform special tasks, such as performing high voltage and AC operations and operating a pallet truck.

Personal Safety

Observe the following rules for personal safety:

• Only personnel authenticated or authorized by Huawei are allowed to install equipment or components.
• Report faults or errors that may cause safety problems to the person in charge immediately and take protective measures.
• Do not perform operations, including moving devices, installing cabinets, and installing power cables, in rainy or thundering days.
• Wear clean protective gloves, antistatic clothing, protective hats, and protective shoes.

• When carrying devices, observe the following rules:
  • Do not carry the weight that is over the maximum weight per person allowed by local laws or regulations.
  • Do not carry the weight that is over the maximum weight carried by an installation person.
• Before contacting devices, wear antistatic clothing and ESD gloves, and take off electricity-conductive materials such as watches and jewelries.

• Exercise caution with the tools to prevent human injuries caused by misoperations.
• If the device installation position is higher than the shoulders of the installation personnel, use a stacker to facilitate installation and prevent the device from falling down.
• Avoid any contact with high-voltage cables.
• Before powering on a device, ground it to prevent human injuries.
• At least two persons are required when a ladder is used.
• Wear protective goggles when drilling holes using a hammer drill. This is to prevent your eyes from being injured by the splashing metal scraps.
• Do not look into the optical cable when connecting, testing, or replacing the optical cable to prevent laser from injuring your eyes.

Equipment Security

Observe the following items for equipment security:

• Before contacting devices, wear antistatic clothing and gloves to avoid electrostatic damage to devices.
• When moving the equipment, hold the equipment handle or bottom instead of holding the handle of installed modules, such as power distribution units (PDUs), fan modules, hard disks, or boards.
• Exercise caution with the tools to prevent equipment damage caused by misoperations.
• Connect power cables to different PDUs in active/standby mode to ensure reliable system operation.
• Do not drill holes on cabinets until allowed. Unqualified drilling deteriorates the electromagnetic shielding performance of the cabinet and damage the internal cables. In addition, metal filing generated by unqualified drilling will cause short circuits in the cabinet.
• Before powering on a device, ground it to prevent human injuries.

Maximum Load Carried by a Single Person

When carrying heavy objects, observe the local laws or regulations for the maximum weight that can be carried by a person. The weight information on equipment labels or in documents is for reference only.
