Replacing AR Cards

AR cards are used for data exchange between nodes and between nodes and external systems, and provide security gateways for the system.

Impact on the System

During the replacement of an AR card, services on the cables connected to the AR card are interrupted. Exercise caution when performing this operation.

Prerequisites

The vendor and type of the spare AR card are the same as those of the faulty AR card.

Procedure

  1. Remove a faulty AR card.
    1. Press the release button on the ejector lever of the AR card and the ejector lever ejects automatically, as shown in steps ① and ② in Figure 1.

    2. Hold the ejector lever of the AR card and slowly pull out the AR card, as shown in step ③ in Figure 1.
  2. Place the removed AR card in an ESD bag.
  3. Take the spare AR card out of its ESD bag.
  4. Install the spare AR card.
    1. Open the ejector lever of the spare AR card, and push the spare AR card into the system subrack along the slot until it does not move, as shown in step ① in Figure 2.

    2. Close the ejector lever of the spare AR card so that the spare AR card is secured to the system subrack.
  5. Check whether the installation is successful.

    After inserting the AR card, wait for one minute and check the PWR indicator on the AR card to determine whether the card is successfully installed.

    If the PWR indicator on the AR card is steady green, the AR card is successfully installed. Otherwise, the AR card fails to be installed and you need to perform the following operations:
    1. Check whether the AR card is firmly inserted. If no, wait for one minute and reinsert the card.
    2. If the AR card still fails to be installed after reinsertion, contact Huawei technical support engineers.
