Checking the Owner Controller and the Work Controller of a LUN

Procedure

  1. On the CLI, run the show lun general lun_id=1 command to check whether the owner controller (Owner Controller) and the work controller (Work Controller) are the same.

    NOTE:
In the preceding figure, the owner controller of LUN 1 is 0A, and the work controller is 0B, which are inconsistent.
    • If yes, the current system has no problem.
    • If no, go to step 2.

  2. On the CLI, run the show controller general command to check whether the current system is in single-controller mode.

    NOTE:
In the preceding figure, only controller 0B in the system is running properly.
    • If yes, go to step 7.
    • If no, go to step 3.

  3. On the CLI, run the show port general command to check whether all the controllers are equipped with front-end interface modules and are connected to the host through links.

    NOTE:
In the preceding figure, the system has two controllers (Controller A and Controller B). Slot 1 of both controllers are equipped with Fibre Channel interface modules, and port 1 of both interface modules are connected to the host through Fibre Channel links.
    • If yes, go to step 4.
    • If no, go to step 7.

  4. On the CLI, run the show initiator command to check whether the host using the LUN whose owner controller and work controller are different is configured with at least two initiators.

    NOTE:
In the preceding figure, the system has two initiators that are running properly (21000024ff2b86bc and 21000024ff2b86bd). However, host 0 contains only one initiator (21000024ff2b86bd).
    • If yes, go to step 5.
    • If no, go to step 7.

  5. On the CLI, run the show initiator command to check whether Running Status of the initiator contained in the host is Online.

    NOTE:
In the preceding figure, host 0 has two initiators (21000024ff2b86bc and 21000024ff2b86bd). Running Status of initiator 21000024ff2b86bd is Offline, and Running Status of initiator 21000024ff2b86bc is Online.
    • If yes, go to step 7.
    • If no, go to step 6.

  6. On the CLI, run the show alarm command to check whether an alarm is displayed indicating that the link between the storage array and the host is disconnected.

    NOTE:
In the preceding figure, the link to port 0 of slot 1 on controller B of engine 0 is disconnected.
    • If yes, reconnect the link.
    • If no, go to step 7.
